Product Review: GelaSkins protective laptop skins
Saturday, February 6th, 2010Many of you know that I recently attended the International Consumer Electronics Show here in Las Vegas. While I was there, I discovered so many cool things and one of them I’d like to share with you is called GelaSkins. They are protective skins for your laptop computer that have a durable anti-scratch and anti-UV coating. They come in many different designs and colors. Basically, it’s this giant sticker that you use to cover your laptop. Think contact paper but without the sticky residue. GelaSkins come in various sizes and they were originally designed for Mac laptops, but I don’t use a Mac (at least not yet) and the GelaSkins worked just fine on my HP laptop.
It is very simple to put on, you just peel and stick. And if it’s not positioned right the first time, no worries, you just lift and reapply. It’s a little frustrating to get it straight if you don’t have the right size skin. I think the one I got was a bit too small for my computer… but anyway, here’s my laptop before the GelaSkin was applied…
And here it is after… I’m not too crazy about this particular design, but it does make your laptop really standout.
Overall, I think this is a very useful product. I like how simple it is to use, and I like how there is no residue once you remove the GelaSkin. The really nice thing is that I could send in my own photo and the company will create a custom GelaSkin just for me based on the image I submitted. I will keep this GelaSkin on my laptop from now on though, because with a two-year old toddler in the house my laptop needs all the protection it can get.

You are right these things work well. I am not sure what brand my husband had but it lasted the whole time he was in iraq and his computer took a beating there but it kept the case scratch free.
