When I received a call at home from Cristina Carlino, I was not expecting to be on the phone with her for almost an hour. Not only is she a fantastic mother and brilliant entrepreneur, but she is the warmest, friendliest, and most encouraging person I’ve ever met. For those of you who may not know, Cristina is the mastermind behind the philosophy brand of beauty products. She appears regularly on QVC and has been quite busy with several interesting projects. We spent time discussing her most recent labor of love, a new book titled “the changing room (A Mother’s Journal of Gratitude to Her Little Girl, By Cristina Carlino).” She shared with me the motivation behind the book and what she has learned about how her life has evolved as a mother.
“I really enjoy being a mother” she began, “our children help us evolve not only as mothers, but also as women.” Cristina’s new book is a tool mothers of daughters can use to record their thoughts, feelings and experiences as they happen. The book, or journal, is organized into several different “rooms,” each representing a different aspect of life and motherhood. Cristina says she wanted to create a keepsake box for her daughter Grace and that this interactive journal was just a natural extension of that desire. It can be suited to fit any mom’s preference or lifestyle. Cristina even suggests that moms make it their own and use it “randomly” and not feel obligated to automatically start on page one–because the unique thing about it is that it is made specifically for mom to record her thoughts and memories of the moments that happen during her daughter’s precious first years. “No event has changed me so profoundly as having a child” she said.

My daughter & I create memories together by having Our time. We go to the movies together, hairdresser, even the supermarket. I encourage her to speak on all subjects especially her friends and the secrets 12year olds share. I recently started a family channel on YT and she showed off her cooking skills; passed down recipes and her own new creations. She is the best of me.
