I get asked all the time what kind of makeup I use. And even though I don’t wear makeup every day, when I do wear it, I need it to work well with my skin and under certain circumstances. For those of you who may not know, I am a former radio and tv news reporter, so I have always used what is considered “high-performance” makeup. That means, I need my makeup to last, usually all day, in a variety of lighting conditions, and that is good for my skin.
I have tried sooooooooo many brands of foundation over the years, and even when I experiment I always come back to these tried and true favorites. So if you are a woman of color over the age of 40, I highly recommend you at least sample these brands that I use regularly and can honestly say they work. You may have to find the right color to match your skintone, but the formula of these foundations are wonderful, and I have not had any issues with breakouts, cakey-ness, or oxidation. Of course, your skin is different, but if you have dry and kinda “mature” skin like I do, these may work.
What’s funny about this foundation is that I’ve been using it since high school. Yes, seriously. I think the formulation has changed a bit over the years but for whatever reason, this is my ‘everyday foundation’ that works great when I don’t need to get “glammed up,” but want a simple one-step coverage makeup that blends beautifully. This foundation is affordable and available at most drug stores so that’s another plus. I use the color Caramel.
When I need to look my best and I want a full-coverage foundation that will last all day or night, this is the one I use, hands down. I also use this foundation when I know I’ll be taking pictures and I want my skin to look as “flawless” as possible. I’ve been using this foundation for about four years now and I love it. I stock up on it during the Sephora VIB sales so I can get it at a little bit of discount. This makeup wears fantastic and I NEVER worry about it making my skin shiny or too greasy and a little goes a long way so I don’t have to use very much. It is a build-able coverage foundation so that it makes it nice for covering up certain areas of my face that may need a bit more to hide imperfections. I use two colors depending on the time of year – N173 and N177.
